The sidestep connector lets Claude answer questions about demonstrations, marches and gatherings in Berlin: the ones that cross your saved routes, and everything registered in the city today or tomorrow. It only reads. It cannot save, change or delete anything in your account.
Before you start
- A sidestep account. Sign up free at sidestep.fyi.
- At least one saved route for the route questions. Add one at sidestep.fyi/add-route. Routes are limited to Berlin and Brandenburg.
- Claude on a plan that supports connectors.
Connect
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- Find sidestep in the directory, or choose Add custom connector and enter
https://mcp.sidestep.fyi. - Select Connect, sign in to sidestep and approve the access.
To disconnect, remove the connector in the same settings page. Deleting your sidestep account also ends the access.
What you can ask
- "Is anything blocking my commute tomorrow?"
- "Which of my routes have a demonstration on them today?"
- "What demonstrations are happening in Berlin today?"
Tools
list_routes — your saved routes: name, id, the weekdays you use each one, and its departure and return times of day.
get_route_disruptions — the demonstrations, marches and gatherings starting today or tomorrow that cross one saved route, given its id from list_routes.
get_city_disruptions — everything registered in Berlin on one day, today or tomorrow, whether or not it is near your routes.
Every answer starts with the current Berlin time and marks events that are already over or happening now. Times are Berlin time.
Limits
- Berlin only, and only today and tomorrow: that is how far ahead the source lists events.
- Disruptions come from the public assembly listings of the Berlin police. An event that was never registered there is not included.
- The connector cannot add or edit routes, run a look-ahead check or change your alerts. Use sidestep.fyi for those.
Privacy
The assistant sees your routes' names, ids, weekdays and travel times, and the disruptions on them. It never receives route geometry, your start or end points or your email address. We do not receive or store your conversation. Details are in section 2.8 of our Privacy Policy.
